Are Garden of Life and Dr Mercolas vitamins really from whole food?
Question: from Gayle
By the way, I see that Jordin Rubin, of Garden of Life has just come out with a whole food vitamin. Don't know anything about it, but his products sell well here in FL. I don't know if it's because they are really good or because he is FL based. I do remember you saying that a product like that would require a lot of ingredients (I think you said that) and would be expensive. I wonder how it will do. He seems to write a book every time he brings a product out, very prolific.
Answer: from Warren
I am pleased that you raise this Gayle. Dr Mercola claims the same for his Multi.
You are right. In order to produce ‘whole food’ vitamins the cost would be horrific. But, neither Garden or Life or Dr Mercola use ‘whole food’ vitamins in the strict sense of the word. In other words they are NOT sourced from plants. They use the same vitamins that we do.
Let me explain.
There are two sources used for the production of vitamins. One is petrochemical based which are common in the cheaper supplements.
The other is the ‘natural’ form which are produced using bio-technology using yeast as the growth medium. So, in that sense they are ‘grown’ and as natural as it is possible to get.
However, to refer to them as being sourced from ‘whole food’ is a bit of a stretch and using ‘marketing license’ and in my opinion is misleading.

Gayle, I would stick with TB. Nothing comes close!
There are certainly worse products than the two that were mentioned ( G of L, and Mercola). I think New Chapter comes a lot closer to it than these two mentioned, and they have demonstrated over time what their business practices and believes through example.
While I know people can learn from their mistakes (and I really want to believe that is possible), and while I know that many people have been inspired by words written by Mr. Rubin, he will not get my money. If you like the product(s), and benefit from them-great, but I choose not to give him my money. Just do some investigation in his past dealings, litigation, and statements made with regards to his products and benefits. IMHO.
Would you explain what TB is?
Patrick
TB is short for Total Balance.

You are quite right. The Centrum silver is no where near good enough for what your Mum needs. There is no doubt that she would greatly benefit from our new generation Total Balance Premium. Make sure that you give her the premium version and that she takes the full 6 tablets a day.
If she does this you could eliminate the Centrum silver, the CoQ10, the Calcium with D, and the grape seed oil.
So long as it is a good fish oil she could increase that to 2 per day. She could continue with the probiotics.
The premium version of Total Balance is probably the most potent on the market today and I have no doubt it will benefit her greatly.
Be sure to have a look at all the ingredients in the ingredients tab and you will get a better appreciation as to what this supplement will do for your Mum.
If you have her try this please keep in touch and let me know how she gets on. Good luck.
I'm currently taking TB unisex at 6 tablets a day along with Neuro-General at 6 tablets a day changing with Neuro-Memory fortnightly.
When I start taking the TB Unisex Premium at full dosage, how many tablets of the Neuro Formulas should I take a day? Is it the same?
Thanks a lot
Reagan
You could reduce your daily dose of NN down to 3 - 4 tablets a day. This is because the new TB Premium has SAMe, vincopetine and other 'brain' nutrients.
We are currently working on a new generation of Neuro-Natural in order to try to get the daily dosage back to 3 - 4 tablets and which will still be effective either taken alone or, with TB premium.
I was only taking the neuro-range because according to your website, to have all round good health, the neuro range (more specifically Neuro-General) should be part of the TB regiment. I recall in a blog, you saying that you alternated between the neuro-general and neuro-memory which is what I've been doing over the past year (trying to follow your lead). But now with the Premium Version of TB, it sounds as though the Neuro-Natural range is practically obsolete.
Can I ask how many neuro-general or memory you're currently taking with the TB Premium?
However, we still have to have the NN as an effective standalone product for those people who are not having TB. This is what our R & D people are working on. It will be early next year before the development work on a new generation of NN will be complete.
I usually take 6 tablets a day of the NN which I alternate between Memory and General, but I really don't need to. 4 tablets would really be enough which is why I suggested the lesser amount. I take 7 tablets a day of the TB Men's Premium.
Hope this helps clarify the situation.
Thank you.
I have to say...it all is very confusing and expensive trying to figure out which vitamins are the most benefical. I am a 54 year old female who had a hysterectomy 5 years ago. I started taking your womans supplements and now my doctors feel I should switch to DaVinci's vitamins due to ingredients. www.davincilabs.com
They are out of Vermont. I am 136 pounds and 5'5" I also have a pretty decent diet. What to do? Can you assist?
Woman in distress!
I understand your confusion. Sad to say but I don't think that your Doctor is being upfront with you.
DaVincilabs have an affiliate program with Doctors and Healh Professions which pays them a commission on every customer they refer to them.
I suspect that this is the motivation for suggesting you change,
There are two things that you can do.
1. Is that ask your Doctor why he/she thinks that you would be better off to change. Note the reasona and forward back to me for comment.
OR,
2. Let me know which product the Doctor is recommending you change to and I will do a comparison for you, and you can show your Doctor.
An offer: If your Doctor can prove that the other supplement is better for you, and represents better value for money we will ship you a 6 months supply of Total Balance for FREE.
We like challenges like this. This is because we have never in the last 10 years found a supplement than can give better results and provide better value for money than Total Balance.
I look forward to hearing back from you and I will help you further.
I've been using Shaklee's Vitalea multi, B-complex, soy protein powder for some time now....Am I on the right path or wasting my $$$ ~ I of course don't want to waste money on one product if could obtain better results from another.
Looking forward to you advise. Thank you!
I will provide some comments for you in the morning. I am in Thailand at the moment and it is getting late at night. I think that you will be shocked at what I will show you.
You are not currently getting a good deal. Until tomorrow.
I have completed my review of the Vitalea Multi Gold. It is is a spreadsheet but I can't display it here so I have to get our webmaster to put in in a form on a web page. This will be done tomorrow and then I will be able to give you a link.
It will be worth the wait as you will see how you can not only save money but get much better results.
My question is how does your TB and Male Rejuvenator compare to Herballove's PowerV
I honestly don't know what to make of the product you refer to. According to their supplement facts the ViagrowthIV which seems to be part of PowerV contains around 5,000mgs of active ingredients per serving.
They say a serving is 2 tablets. This means that each tablet must have around 2,500mgs of active ingredients.
We use the maximum amount of active ingredient per tablet possible without making the tablet difficult to swallow. That maximum is 730mgs. It is physically impossible to get three times that amount into a tablet for human consumption unless it is being fed to a horse.
So, without accurate info I really cannot do a meaningful comparision...sorry. Maybe you can get me more info and I will have another look at it.
One thing that did concern me though was the inclusion of 40mgs of DHEA per serving. Although DHEA has its place I would not want to be having 40mgs of it every day unless I had a proven deficiency. The reason...it could interfere with my natural production of this important hormone.
Originally I was on your site looking at skin Care !! Now I have read the info on vitamin Supplements. As many other's it is confusing and one has to do the research, I greatly appreciate your input.Currently I am taking a product Vitamin Supreme from Avena Originals In Canada. I have tried several different brands, and lije the other's I want to feed my body things it will absorb and recognize. If you have any input on these products I also would appreciate it.
As for the Skin Care ( FOR WOMEN) I ASSUME THE GUARANTEE COVER'S CANADA?
Thank you for your reply and hope you are having a great trip !!
